Seattle's first edible food forest!
The Beacon Hill Edible Food Forest in Seattle is due to open this year and the prospect of foraging for locally grown wild food is making me giddy with excitement! What's even more exciting is that it is located a short 10mins away. This is to be built in stages, while still in the planning stage, committees are forming and funding is being raised.

What a cool concept! How fortunate for you it is only 10 minutes away!
ReplyDeleteIts such a cool concept, looking forward to reading more about it over the months to come, I'll be sure to update =)
DeleteI was reading about this just the other day! Why do the best ideas start on the West Coast? This is something every city should be doing and I'm hoping other city councils are paying attention. Hmm, maybe I'll be forwarding this to my own councillor.
ReplyDeleteAdele, I'll cross my fingers for you and hope one heads your way sooner than later. Great idea about contacting your local council, let us know how it goes, good luck! Cheers Julia
DeleteDear Julia, Is this a NEW idea? It's wonderful! And so near your home. P. x
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, While the idea is not new, it's New to Seattle! I believe Seattle is modeling their plans from an established forest that the city of San Francisco built a few years back. I cant wait to see it! Thanks for stopping by xx
DeleteGosh, I would love to see something like that happen around here! Please keep us posted--that is a really nifty project!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Beth, I'll be sure to post any new findings! I am so soooo excited for this..Cheers Julia
DeleteSounds really cool! I hope you keep us posted if you do hear anything about opening dates, I'd love to visit.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we could do a SAGBUTT get together there once it opens? Not that I am very good at getting to their events ;)
DeleteHow exciting! I can't wait to see your posts about this fabulous idea!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to post on my first time going...ahh the anticipation, I'm giddy with excitement!!
DeleteOnly 10mins from you! That is awesome! What a cool idea, I would love to see PDX do something like this :) Do keep us posted! Cheers, Jenni
ReplyDeleteNow you have another reason to head up this way for a visit ;)
DeleteThat sounds so AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteSo people will be free to wander the forest and take what they want? Or will it be for educational purposes only? It's a great concept. Lucky that it will be so close to you!
ReplyDeleteSo cool! Wish something like this would start in my city. I think we have some nearby, though.
